Widgetize Your Content

One of our common daily actions is tracking incoming traffic to the content that we publish. It is always good to know where this traffic is coming from and perhaps learn a thing or two.

One of the things that we have learnt is that some of our traffic originates in blogs, websites and social network pages owned or maintained by Triond users. Those users utilize their “online presence” to drive traffic through to their Triond content. They post links to their published content items and keep their audience updated with new content they have on Triond.

This is an excellent and very legit way to increase your viewership and therefore your income. We even recommend it.

So now we have decided to turn this activity easier for those of you who utilize it already, and more feasible for those of you who wish to start practicing it. The basic idea is to provide you with a tool that will constantly keep your blog or social network page updated with content you publish on Triond. This will save you some hassle and also increase your content’s exposure.

It is done via widgets.

Let’s start with a short answer to the question “What is a Widget?”

Well, a widget is a component that you embed into a web page. Once embedded, the widget displays content from its source. That’s it…

Now let’s get down to business. We have created 4 different widgets, one to each media type that we publish (text, pics, audio and video). The widgets are personal, so you can show only your content within the widget. Oh, and our widgets are served by an excellent widget service called Widgetbox. The reason we decided to use Widgetbox services is that it simplifies the widget configuration and implementation process, and it generates widgets that are compatible with most of the popular blogging and social networking services.

In other words, we now enable you to embed “link boxes” on your blogs and social pages which are always up to date with your latest content, that show throughout your online presence scope and drive traffic to your content.

How is this done? It is very simple.

  1. Sign up with Widgetbox.
  2. Configure your Articles Widget and/or your Pictures Widget an/or your Audio Widget and/or your Video Widget and let Widgetbox lead you through the surprisingly easy embedding process.
  3. That’s it.

Here is an example to what you can achieve. We have created a demo blog that contains articles, pictures, audio and video widgets of four of Triond users. Go ahead and take a look. It took us less than 5 minutes to complete and it was no hassle at all.

I hope that many of you will use those widgets, widen your content distribution and see more income.

  1. Ron says:

Do you have any widgets for blogs (like livejournal) that don’t allow javascript?

  2. Unfortunately Widgetbox requires Javascript to be enabled in order to perform right. Since we provide our widgets through Widgetbox, embedding widgets within a blog system that does not allow Javascript is not possible.
I hope we will be able to solve this issue in the future.

  3. Brett says:

why not have a 4 in 1 widget? One that shows everything you have? writing, audio, pictures, and video. It would take up less space and be less hassle.
