It’s social time!

November 20, 2007

Did you notice anything new in Triond today? Hey, yes, what is that new section called “My Community”?

A greatly anticipated feature of Triond is here – our social network. It is the place to easily communicate with one another, to make friends and follow their content, and to get to know some of your readers better. We know it will make your Triond experience much more lively and complete.

Let’s get you acquainted with this new, exciting feature. Go on, click that “My Community” link. You will see five different tabs:

  1. News Feed displays notifications of what your friends did lately.
  2. Inbox is your place to read private messages sent to you by other users. You can keep or delete these, and you can also reply to messages.
  3. My Friends shows you a list of people you added as friends. You can send them a message from here and go to their profile pages. Remember, you will receive notifications of their actions in your News Feed.
  4. My Fans shows you a list of your fans. Fans are people who added you as a friend. It probably means they like your work and like to receive notifications about you. You can send them a message from here, and if you want to add them as friends, you can do that from their profile pages.
  5. Search Friends is easy, all you have to do is punch in a pen name (or at least a part of one), and you’ll be able to locate other Triond members and add them as friends.

But wait! None of this would be complete without some changes to your account. You can now upload a profile picture (instead of the default one that we give you), and you can also write a little something about yourself in the profile description. You also have the option to show the world who your friends are and where you’re from. All of these can be found at the bottom of the “My Account” section.

One last thing is your profile page. There’s a link on the Welcome screen, just after you log in, to your public profile page. On this page other people can see your profile picture and what you wrote about yourself in your profile description. If they’re logged in, they can send you a message or add you as a friend. And, if you allowed it, they can also see your friends.

Of course, as always, we would very much like to receive your feedback. After all, this is your community, you empower it and make it tick. Take the time to investigate these new features. Upload a profile picture, make friends, communicate with each other, and enjoy the new community life in Triond!

  1. This is great! I like it! I’d logged in at the precise moment it was going up, clicked on ‘community’ when it appeared and wondered why I didn’t see it before.

    This is a superb addition.

  2. Dee Huff Says:

I like this very much. I’ve already used some of the features and plan to use some more. It’s just what we needed.

  3. Dee Huff Says:

I’m commenting again because my e-mail address was left on display in the boxes above. I’ve put in a fake e-mail address so that it should superimpose the last one. This could be a problem since you said the e-mail would not be published.

  4. Dee,

I assume you are referring to the comment submission boxes on this blog – the email address in those stays visible only to you, it has to do with your browser auto-saving input fields.

I, for example, cannot see any email of yours in any of your previous comments.

  5. Steven Says:

This is a welcome addition to Triond, and I’ll be sure to try it out!

  6. Darlene Says:

This is great! Thank you for listening to our requests. This makes Triond a little more personal. I tried some of the features first thing this morning and will make use of the others as well.

  7. I’ve got to go and tear myself away now. I’m having so much fun with this new feature. I’ve added friends and a photo etc.etc.

The great thing is that one can see all their friends’ newly published content when it’s no longer visible on the recently published list or anywhere else.

Fantastic way to keep abreast. The problem is that I’ll now have to not get hooked.

One question, I tried to put a link to my blog on my social page but it doesn’t come out. What am I doing wrong?

  8. IcyCucky Says:

What a wonderful surprise, and a fantastic feature! Thank you for giving us this chance to socialize..

  9. Anne,

You cannot put HTML code in your profile description.

  10. Sandra Petersen Says:

This is a great feature. Should be really helpful.

I can not get my profile photo to upload, though. I tried two times. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

  11. Kim Donovan Says:

    Hi Sandra,
Please make sure that you are trying to upload either a jpg or gif formated picture. If you have any further problems, feel free to email me at support@triond.com.

  12. Dee Huff Says:

It would be really nice if we could put a link to our blogs on our profile. Is there any chance that you’ll add that feature soon?

  13. Drew Sherman Says:

I think it would be cool if we had a mini blog here or a forum so that we could talk about our tips and tricks. Win win, we get the ideas and tips to make our content better from a publishers minds, and you get better content giving you more traffic to all your sites.

  14. Wonderful! Finally! Great job, Triond! I’ll try it out as soon as my work hours end :) (malingering, malingering *tsk, tsk, tsk*)

  15. jake85 Says:

    Great!

  16. samuelkaplan Says:

    excelent :D !

  17. These additions are wonderful. Why have you not added it all this while. I will like our emails to be published and be open internationally.
I believe you are always thinking ahead. Keep it up

  18. Lucy Lockett Says:

Wow! Awesome changes, much appreciated. :)

  19. vastari Says:

Love the new changes! Well done triond!

  20. Annettenasser Says:

Im not ready to update my profile yet, im still looking for the best avatar for my profile and need to post more interesting post here.

I think it i liked it here.

  21. Dominion Says:

So triond is now a social networking site?

  22. I’ve just found another great reason why this works so well. I’ve had renewed interest in my old material. Stuff it seems people had forgotten. Having all the author’s material accessible on one page means that even the old articles could be accessed by anyone who is interested.

    good job.

  23. Natalie34 Says:

I’m rather new to this, so I can’t honestly say what to think of this yet. I’m sure this will bring an improvement to this site. :)

  24. I think that I may have a slight problem. I’ve just changed my picture on my accounts page but it still does not show my head. (The last picture did the same thing).

I know I’m tall, but surely that’s not a good enough reason to chop my head off :-)

  25. I don’t see where we can view other’s profiles or add friends…what am I missing?

I have my profile and pic setup, I’ve seen the community tab, but I don’t see links to others.

  26. Mike Brechin Says:

Im jumpin for joy! I cant wait to get to know some of you, what excites me most is the possiblities, and that were going to contribute to growth, and enrichment through our content, and contacts. Im also on facebook, find me, seeya then new friend.

  27. Kim Donovan Says:

    To Anne Lyken-Garner,

Try to make the jpeg a smaller file size.

    To Alicia Prater,

You can add friends when you go to your My Community category-> Search Friends tab. Simply type in someone’s pen name to find them.

As always for any extra help, please email me at support@triond.com.

    Best Regards,
    Kim

  28. review my page everyone

  29. Lydia Says:
