Spell Check Upgrade Learns Your Vocabulary
Imagine having a personal dictionary on Triond that learns new words as you use them. Our latest upgrade to the Online Editor’s spell check does just that; enables you to build a personal dictionary and remembers new words after they are added.
Those of you who write technical or otherwise lingo-heavy articles will find this function especially useful. It’s also helpful if you use words from other languages transliterated into English.
To check your spelling, just click on the same ABC button as before. Now, when the system finds a spelling error, the misspelled word will be highlighted in yellow. Correcting errors is a breeze – just click on the highlighted word and a suggestion box will drop down. If you find the word you were looking for in the suggestion box, click it and it will replace the misspelled word. If there is no suggestion that fits the context, but you are sure the word is correct and you want to keep using it, you can click “Add to dictionary”, and the word will never again be marked as a spelling error.
Here are some screenshots that demonstrate this functionality:

Let’s click the ABC button and see the highlighted words:

The words “speling” and “Google” were highlighted. Let’s fix them, we’ll pick “spelling” from the suggestion box, and we’ll add “Google” to the dictionary:

That’s it, easy and convenient.
Happy publishing!

Thanks for this feature! It will help me! I always wanted this!
Great idea, very useful.
However, if you are a very bad speller beware!
Many years ago I was using a spell checker and realised that it was giving me ‘incorrect corrections’. It turned out that my son had kept getting the error message, ‘This word does not exist in the dictionary’, so he added it, totally unaware that he was adding misspelled words to a spell checker.
LOL
This is a great advantage for us! Thank You! Elizabeth
This is a great advantage for us! This will be so helpful. Thanks.
A must have addition. Thanks Triond.
Great idea and very useful. Thanks Triond.
We can mess up with it, if we accidentally add some words which are miss-spelt.
For prolific writers it should be helpful. Also those who don’t use firefox browser or word processor to write their articles should make use of this feature.
This is what I have been waiting for all these years! I love it especially the dictionary as we don’t have to repeat correcting the words over and over again!
wow thank you Triond. time to improve my writing!
This is awesome Triond! Thanks for the info!
This is a great addition!!! thanks
Thanks for the new upgrade Marla. Very well covered – similar to the spell checker on Google Docs.

Spell check is indeed a great tool to help us writers check once again before we submit the articles. After all sometimes there are errors that we might have missed.
Does this work in Firefox v. 3.08? In the OnlineEditor, now even purposefully misspelled words do not (or at least did not when I checked this afternoon) have the red underline. I discovered this by accident and tried to add a few misspelled words to ‘test’ the spell-check tool and …nothing happened. It failed to recognize the misspelled words as being incorrect.
I like the ‘Trends’ graph. This is a useful feature. This is for …the individual user’s statistics, right? It would be nice to see how many are viewing one’s own works. What is attracting attention, etc.
Again with Firefox, -I see the FLASH box for “TRENDS” but on-click it collapses and disappears. This works fine in IE-mode though.
I might have to change some settings on my Firefox to permit these new features to function but I hate ‘dumbing-down’ the security of an otherwise secure browser to allow certain web sites to function as intended. As a web page builder I like to keep my preferred browser ’safer’ for the purpose of examining sites that may be potentially insecure.
I do hope (as an earlier postee mentioned) that if a word is added to the personal dictionary and later it needs to be recinded, that it can be.
Great new features. I am eager to explore them.

Hi thestickman,
The new spell checker works in Firefox, and the Firefox built-in spell checker (the one that underlines words in red) is disabled on purpose. In order to spell check your article, please click the ABC button, and see the yellow-highlighted words marked as spelling errors.
Regarding the trend graph, there should be no problem with Firefox, and no special configuration is needed. Please send an email to the support team describing your problem in more detail.
I like this spell check, it is very helpful.
This is a very helpful update indeed.
Really an useful feature, when you write articles in the niche areas especially articles in the technical, legal and medical topics. An innovative feature. But still comparing with some free article directories like ezinearticles.com, I feel Triond is still lagging behind.
you guys are doing a great job keep it up
cool update. i always wanted this as i write articles on games and i always get spelling errors where the word is right in the game but not so in the dictionary.
thank you triond!
