Introducing Badges
How can you tell the Sheriff is the Sheriff? Because he has a badge. A badge is a little emblem you earn that tells a bit of information about you. And now, like the Sheriff, you can receive badges too!
When you’re a Triond user, you reach many milestones and do many things that are truly achievements. You publish your first article, you publish your tenth article, you get the first 1,000 page views, or you get 5,000 page views, to name just a few. Now, to acknowledge these achievements, you will receive a badge, which in our case is a little cute icon.
Your badges are shown on your Dashboard when you log in, and are also available as a widget on your profile page, so you can show them off to everyone if you want to.
We’re starting out with a Page Views Badge and a Published Articles Count Badge. But expect the unexpected – when you achieve a new Triond milestone, a badge will suddenly unlock and reveal itself. We won’t tell you what other badges are in store, because we don’t want to deny you the fun of discovering for yourself!
Go on, check out your badges, achieve milestones and do some good on Triond!

Agree with all of you. Triond just seems to get better and better. The badges brings me back to my Boys Brigade days. Maybe there should be an ultimate badge for the really good writers.

I was putting in an article (which I just got finished writing), I’m so excited, I can’t type. LOL I clicked onto my dashboard and noticed something strange. I had two beady eyeballs looking at me. I was like, “What the heck is this?” I noticed just above them, the word, “Badges.” I was like, “What? Oh cool!!! I’ve got badges in the Triond site!!!!” This is so awesome. Thanks guys. Now this, makes me want to write more for the site.

This is such a nic incentive to write on a regular basis. Thanks for the encouragement.
Great psychological trick. Triond should also showcase the top 10 authors with the most number of articles and the author with the best article of the month picked by the editors. That will cultivate a healthy competition. They can either do that in the newsletter or as a monthly update together with the message of monthly “payment sent” message. This is a “good” improvement. But It will not help the writers get more insight about their articles. I would call an addition “great” (compared to “good”) if the update adds value to the writer.

I like this idea much. But I am still with 5 in badge, even after staying so long in Triond. Now I will try to make my batch good.

Great idea! But, it would also be nice if there were badges for professional writers and photographers here to show that they are not just your regular want-to-be writers and photographers. Some of us don’t have impressive badges because we are doing so much that we spread our time around. I think it would be nice if you had certain badges that you could earn with proof of your professionalism like a diploma, published book, website, or blog. Triond is a great place and it is getting better all the time, but you can’t base self-worth on just what is done here on Triond. There is a great big world out there!

Like the idea. I would also like it if the image suggestions were consistent with the article topic. I was writing one on chocolate and got one image of chocolate, one of a couple giving the peace sign, and one travel ad for Japan. Also, there is not a really good option on site to give Triond feedback or state problems.

I also agree about feedback.. I have tried to report issues and the help section is terrible and too confusing.
Why doesn’t Triond let us post our pictures here and let others use them for their articles, (with approval & copyright) and every time an image of ours is used… we earn a little more. This would help everyone all the way around. You could pick what you want for your articles making them even better. This way… we wouldn’t have to leave the site for our images. I have so many ideas after working with so many other sites. This place really needs a little more sizzle. Helium has had badges… and this place is just now getting them. We are really behind. We are still moving forward… but like a turtle. This place also needs a suggestion box for ideas that will improve the site. Are we not supposed to be a team here?
