Firefox Malware Issues
It’s been reported by some of you that browsing our content websites in Firefox results in a warning “Reported Attack Page”. Thanks for alerting.
Preliminary investigation of the matter suggests that a malware distributor was somehow able to sneak in via one of the advertising networks that we work with. Since we allocate ad space to this network on almost all of our websites, most of them were affected.
We’d like to stress that we’re not in the business of distributing malware or anything like it. It is that advertising network that’s been the “gateway” for this malware to appear on our websites and of course we didn’t know anything about it and wouldn’t allow it to happen if we did.
We are now starting a process whose purpose is to eliminate those warnings/blockage. Since it involves some 3rd parties (Mozilla, Google, the above mentioned advertising network) it may take some time, but hopefully sooner than later everything will be back to normal.

Update: By now we removed all ads served by the above mentioned ad network from our sites, and asked Google for review of all our affected sites. Once Google verifies the problem is solved they will remove the warning message and things will get back to normal.
Update: According to Google, the process of removing the warnings may take a day or so to happen. We are trying to accelerate things via some contacts we have, but as it is currently about 3am in Mountain View, CA where Google Headquarters are, we all need to be very patient.
Update: Autorneto, BeyondJane, Gameolosophy, Quazen, Relijournal and Webupon have been white-listed again by Google. They say it will take some time for this info to propagate to their entire network, so you may still be getting the warning pages. However, we — for one — already had a joyful glimpse on them via a web browser. Hopefully the rest of the sites will follow.

It is good to find this out. It is what I expected from what I found out when I looked into the reports.
It would be good if some representative were to make postings to the Support Forums though. Not all are getting the message here. I nearly missed it.
BTW Thank you and I can understand the delay. It is much easier to report a problem than to get a blemish erased! I’ve had to help someone cope with it with their personal domain.

The day before, there was no problem.
I chose to try the links to my newly published articles with Chrome. Same warning.

This is not good for Triond’s image. Let’s hope the result is a good one. No one likes to see the harm sign from Google.
Actually at first I thought that my article ‘Triond cares more for quantity than quality’ was reported and blocked.But only a few minutes ago when I browsed the articles of my friends,I came to know that the problem is with the site not with my article.Thank God.I hope, Triond will take care of the problem and fix it as early as possible.

This is truly a disaster! My customers (viewers) will think twice about clicking on my articles if they continue to see these dire warnings.
I am using Google Chrome as a browser and have tried to view 5 of my Triond friends articles only to be met by this sinister malware warning so it’s not just Firefox.
I know you are all working hard to fix this issue please shout out loud when the problem is done on the Triondblog!
Very bad for the Triond image. Please think twice before signing contracts with random advertisers. This harm will take months to resolve the visitors back to the normal levels. It may take weeks for Google to remove the warnings. Most of my traffic comes from Google, so without Google I receive no traffic at all.
I am using, Google Chrome and I got the same Malware issues, mostly from http://authspot.com, but I also noticed a decrease in my articles viewer ship.

Yes, this apparently affects Google Chrome as well.
You should fire a case against that advertising company who spread this shit on this valuable community.
I am pretty sure they were an innocent victim in this case the same way we were. But of course we will have to check things thoroughly with them.
Hi, I’m happy that you are working on this issue. Is there a problem with IE browser too as whenever I open Authspot, Windows Mediaplayer opens up. Pls look into this issue.
I’ve been strongly considering leaving Triond because of humanitarian issues. Ya’ll just pushed me one step closer to the door.
My Facebook friends who read my articles have all sent me messages to say they have received the malware messages – this is just so embarrasing and I really feel they will stop reading my articles – once bitten, twice shy. I know you are working on it and it will be fixed but this is a debacle – you need to guard very strongly against this happening again.
I found most of my articles published on triond sites show “This may harm your computer” all over the search engines. This is too bad, and my views drop SHARPLY..Triond should work on this issue immediately.

Note: As a quick fix, I would suggest viewers to open in Internet Explorer, as all the articles open in Internet Explorer normally, but with lesser speed.

I am relieved that your IT team jumped so quickly to resolve this issue. I agree that the longer this problem continues, then the more it stains Triond’s image and reputation.
I would highly recommend Triond and the Triond community to blog on other sites that we all belong to, explaining this problem to our readers. If we can clearly and honestly explain “What happened” and “It will be resolved soon”, then maybe we can inform our potential Triond readers to be patient until the problem is solved. More importantly, we need to do the same thing as soon as the “Reported Attack Page” warning is removed.
If anyone uses blog sites other than Triond, then it would be a good idea to post a encouraging message about the current happenings at Triond, and then post a second message once the problem has been resolved. Do this will show your potential readers that you care about them and can potentially increase your reputation among your readers.
We all need to exercise patience for potentially a couple of weeks, until readers are comfortable to return to read our content. It is going to take awhile for things to return back to normal.
We all can help Triond recover from this accident, because we are all in this together, and we all benefit from either others success. I’ll be posting a news about this problem a couple of the blog sites which I belong, today. I’ll also be checking in from time throughout the day, so to see if the problem has been resolved. Once it has, then I will post an Update to announce to my network readers; that the problem has been fixed. This Update will also kindly invite my readers to visit the Triond content network.

As an alert team Triond has taken to the problem of Malware, its all over and most of the articles when open, with a warning, I am using Google Chrome and hope the matter is sovled soon to avoid unnecessary harrasment and data loss if any. Hope the issue is resolved soon.

Definitely, we should be patient while waiting Triond to resolve the problem. However, even the problem is solved later, Triond teams have to do something to build a GOOD IMAGE among the readers outside the Triond community.
At the moment, most sites have banned Triond and even alerted not to open any page related to Triond sites. Explaination itself is not enough to regain reader’s confidence on Triond sites that are being attacked by viruses. The challenge part is after problem is being solved, as Triond should do some backup works to raise its image as a reliable publishing site over the internet.
I’ve just read someone posted “Triond is a SCAM” in the forum, in which I believe it affects the image of Triond itself, as well as all writers within Triond. I can’t deny to say that outsiders may have such bad feeling towards Triond.
As part of the community, I always hope for the best of the writers here, and the better growth of Triond as well. Hopefully, the current problem can be solved immediately and most importantly, readers can once again believe the reliability of Triond sites.

Because of this, I have not been able to catch up with friends articles after two days away from Triond. It is very frustrating. Hope it doesn’t recur.

Please fix it soon. I am down by around 150 views to 2 views today. Thanks for fixing but when the message leaves I’ll be happy.
The malware could be the the adverts for slimming accai berry colon cleanse and teeth whitening. These advertisers are deducting money from bank accounts and are examples of negative response marketing. Try getting rid of them if nothing else works. There has been another report into the company (US based) responsible for these.
Sorry to Triond for working so hard on this issue. In fact this is the most ‘unpleasant and scariest things’ that, we don’t want to happen…Last month glitches, this month Malware attacked..next month??? I agree with Nelson Doyle, “It is going to take awhile for things to return back to normal”…The best thing that we can do is stay calm and be patience until the problem solved..everybody need this problem to be solved as soon as possible, thus Triond should hire “Professional IT Team” to carry-out a ‘post mortem’ and investigate ‘thoroughly’ on this issue and others as well. Get the new latest IT Equipment to combat the Malware.

The good news is that there was a warning which serves to prevent malware from going undetected while providing Triond an opportunity to address this concern which is surely not limited to Triond.

Good To Hear That You Are Working On It!
I got really bad response from my facebook friends trying to connect to my site. I was reported in a forum for posting scam and malware sites. This is more than “unplesent” and got me a bad name in my circles. But as for everything things will be back to normal with time. Triond please take adequate actions to prevent it in future. Needless to say, for the past two days, my views and income has nose dived.
This is really bad but I see you guys at Triond waste no time in addressing problems. I can’t read any of my articles or refer anyone else. But hopefully we will recover from this and move on. Every business will have set backs. This is a major one but there is no reason why we can’t come back stronger than before and wiser.
A question is how will we regain and secure our readers confidence again. We will have to do major damage control. We’ll need to do some press releases or maybe each member could write a blog post explaining what happened.
I have to say that I never liked the idea of content sites. I’ve been on a few and never did more than 10 articles but I really like Triond, I’m a person who loves freedom of speech and no limits on what I can write,and this site is the one place on the internet that satisfies.
It is extremely unique. The many sister sites are are the added bonus. The community is awesome and the format, widgets etc. like none other.
I think Triond could outshine all other content sites but we must be quick to fix our current problem and regain our readers.
I absolutely enjoy reading the articles of others on this site. One night I stayed up almost till daybreak enjoying my favorite Triond authors.
Not all of our writers are professional but as a Triond writer named ” Silent Wasp” has said, professional writers are really just professional amateurs. They are amateurs because they refuse to break out of their mold and are just so blaze and typical in their writing style.
I enjoy the raw writing talent on this site and hope we shall recover from this quickly.
I just started writing on Bukisa about a week now. A Triond writer referred me last month. As soon as the problem is solved I will post an article there explaining what went wrong and encouraging others to retain their readership. I’ll be sure to mention the merits of this site also. I pray all goes well!
I will at times be critical of Triond’s response to problems. I have been an active computer professional for over 45 years and I know all too well the realities surrounding problems. When it is 3 AM it takes longer. When it involves 5 organizations it takes longer. Each have their response and deployment time. If this problem is still around in a couple days, I will join in bashing Triond unless they are in the final steps of resolving it. For now, let’s be patient with them.

It was a shock this morning when I updated firefox and all my stuff had an alert. Will be happy when it is fixed.
I had earlier noticed it happening with other reputable sites as well. But they were gone after few days. That is kind of upsetting. But I still go to those reputable sites. If it happens again I am likely to turn back from those sites.
Let us hope Triond will be careful about malicious advertisers in the future. Otherwise my worst nightmares would become a reality. No views for today which is very disheartening but can bear it if Triond were to fix it soon by contacting mozilla team as well.
I meant that similar to the way I treat reputable sites affect by malware, my audience too would turn back from my articles if the issue persists or repeats again.

My readership dropped 95% so far. That means all those audiences use firefox. Sad to know very few of my audience uses internet explorer.
My views are also way down for today, and it hurts views in the long run. If something I post gets mal-ware alerts it is unlikely that the person who clicked will click on my stuff again. I hope it is sorted out soon. Thanks.

I’ve been thinking about something.. Today I’ve only got 19 views, and I usually get a lot more. This means I will get less views in the end of the month and that I won’t earn enough money. Unfortunately. Also.. When people opens up an article with my name on it, they probable won’t get back to any of the articles with my name on again.. This is really bad cause I have linked to a lot of my articles on my Facebook profile. People got angry at me and yelled up about me trying to hack them and giving them a virus. Hope it get fixed soon and that everything will turn back to normal.

Wow! that was fast I see everything is clearing up. So glad. Kudos! to Triond for quick action in addressing problems.
Webupon not only still gets the warning page, but when I click the little button telling it that this is not an attack page, it loads the webupon page and then another different page opens which appears to be a separate advertising page, that says “Stop Badware”. This is still not right!
The problem is not resolved yet. I tried to open articles for one of my friends in healthmad and still get the malware warning.
By the way, I am using Chrome.
I am on Google Chrome and this warning is still largely in evidence. It has been 24 hours now. I thought you said you had contacts at Google. The confidence in our readership has been decimated! Would you snog with a girl you spotted sneezing and spluttering germs just a day or week earlier? No! Neither would I. Whilst I realise you have been bending over backwards to fix I must point out some of the sites our articles are published to are tacky with garish colours and unprofessionally laid out and so heavily awash with ads, pop-ups and Flash moving banners it must make the reading experience for my/ our customers an unpleasant one to say the least! I made around 10 views today where as I would normally make around 150. I have no idea what I could possibly spend my 2 cents that I have earned today on. I suggest you look carefully at which advertisers you jump in to bed with in future as we have all had a bad day and confidence in Triond will be lower than a Chilean miner at the moment!

Triond estimated reason makes about 2 months ago I received the next day visits and have not had any increase in the month so it has visited me many times at a rate of not so to speak some 100 or 59 visits per day to each my articles and I only paid me royalties credited in a dollar penny on other occasions when I received what belonged according to its table of payments please ask me clarify what happened and if at some point I will continue working to establish and publish for you thank you very much leandro
How long will it take for them to remove “this site may harm your computer” warning? This is the main factor that is pulling down the views. Anyway, thanks for your effort in dealing with this issue.

I’ve tried to open some of my friends content and my own as well, and have been unable to do so. I’ve tried to read an article on Sportales and I still get the warning. I have the utmost confidence that you will resolve this problem very soon, as I would like to get back to publishing again. I know you guys are doing your best, but I don’t want to send you new content until this matter is completely resolved. I’m on Mozilla Firefox.

Everyone on the Internet is susceptible to being attacked and Triond was one of them. In those two days I lost a considerable amount of revenue and I am starting to think that even when the problem is solved, unless Triond does something, we will not be able to go back to our ‘normal’ revenues and payments. I will give it a few weeks chance to see if I pick up again and if not I am ready to migrate to another site.
This morning, I got a message saying I got no views and so should submit more content as though the problem is somehow my fault!
The lesson I learned from this is that it is bad to keep all your eggs in one basket. I don’t have membership in any other publishing networks other than Triond. Because of that I saw some significant dent in my revenue. I have to think about an alternate plan. Most of my top articles are on Health mad and it is still showing warnings.
Shahar/Udi, do you know when Healthmad will be up and running? Also, how are you planning to prevent these kind of mishaps in the future? And for the question which most people have and are afraid of asking. It will take months and years to regain our reputation among our friends after directing to malware sites and I know Triond will can’t help us there. But will Triond compensate us for our two days loss of earnings after this whole malware chapter is over?

I don’t know when Healthmad or any other of the other sites will be up and running. I just hope it will happen as soon as possible. It is up to Google to white-list them again and as they say, it takes “a day or so”. Right now we are doing all we can to make it happen faster.
I’ll refer to your other questions once this all issue is solved.

Relijournal, and Picable seemed to never be affected. I was able to go to pages at both of those throughout this entire ordeal, even with Firefox and Chrome.
As for the rest of the affiliates, using Internet Explorer, I can go to any of them without trouble. But with Firefox and Chrome, they still get the warning screen for the affiliates that are listed as fixed. Hopefully, that will resolve soon.
@Shahar. Thanks for the re-assuring reply. I will do everything in my power to regain the trust for Triond sites once the problem is over. I also urge each and every triond member who was affected to do the same. Remember, We are all in this together.
Let us remember that Triond as a business has also been affected due to definitely more that us. For them, the users who create content keeps their business running. I am sure they will do everything in their power to help the users.
Ouch, my views somehow dropped by 70 % in these three days. Now I know why. It’s fixed now, I hope my views increased to normal again.

I’m leaving for associated content. The annoying ads on the pages, the inferior payouts, the “you don’t know how we calculate”, the never-ending bugs, and the fact that Triond is based in Israel is too much for me. I’ve had it with this incompetent site.

I’m still getting the warning on my content on Authspot, and Purple Slinky, even though you have listed them as fixed in your updates. If they are fixed, I should be able to go to these sites without any problem whatsoever. You should double check with Google and get these warnings removed if they are truly fixed. This is getting very annoying. Not only for us, but for our readers as well. Many of my closest friends that visit Triond to read my content are getting very frustrated because they can’t read my content. Though they are very tolerant, I’m afraid I’ll lose them as my readers. I hope you can shed some light on this problem, as to why the warnings are still coming up on sites that are supposed to be fixed. Triond is a great community of writers, and Its a shame our content can’t be read because of this problem.

There is still a warning with most Triond sites on Google “This site may harm your computer.” Hope’s today Google will white listed most of the sites.
@R.B. Parsley, same here. I think it will take some time to the message of whitelisting a site to propogate through networks. I think the blocked message which you are seeing right now might be from a cache from a hub near you.

Regarding us notifying about cleaned sites and you still getting alerts, it is like Jaison said above. It takes time to propagate through all the networks. According to Google, all of our sites are clean and they also mentioned the propagation thing. So We all need to wait a little more until it will reflect all over.
I have now had two days of about 1/2 the average number of hits. I am probably better off than most, my roughly 2400 items are spread over authspot, Societbry and picable.
Google Chrome still displays newsflavor as having malware! I also noticed that newsflavor is off the listing of “Where do you get published?” in Triond homepage.
Wow, I didn’t know there were so many interesting sites involved with Triond! If there are others like me, this may end up being good advertising.
I dropped Firefox as my browser because all a sudden I wasn’t able to access my history. I like to erase it after every surfing session to avoid spam. When I contacted FF, they gave me all this baloney on how to access my history. I know what they do. They set amateurs at the front lines and give them a radio script. After two attempts to solve the problem, and after they wasted my time with their fake solutions, I dropped them.

I think it would be a good idea to pre-scan all the ads before they are put up for display. Some unscrupulous advertiser might do it again. I am afraid it would scare my friends off from other social networking sites to view my articles. It is going to seriously affect my performance, and it would take some time before we limp back to normalcy.
