Malware Warnings Update

For the last day we’ve been dealing with a Malware Warning issue that kept many people away from our sites. It therefore reduced your view counts, comments, likes, and revenues. Some of you were also concerned about our sites’ reputation.

We are happy to report that all of our websites have now been restored to a “white label” with Google. This means that Google has verified that each and every one of our websites is safe for browsing, and is removing the malware warnings.

However, Google says it will take some time before this verification propagates to the entire web, so you may still see a malware warning when trying to access some of our (and your) pages and in Google Search results. We believe that this is the reason that some of you are still reporting malware warnings on several of the websites.

Therefore, we’re delaying a final “this is behind us” declaration until we are 100% convinced that this issue is truly over, and no lingering issues remain. We plan to address many issues that were raised in your comments in this upcoming blog post, including reputation, prevention, and so on.

One thing we’d like to address right now is your call for compensation for lost revenues. You’ll sure have it. We still haven’t thoroughly thought it over — when? how? how much? — but rest assured we will try to make every one of you feel like you would have had this issue never occured.

  1. alMar says:

Wow! I thin I am the first to read the update.

  2. melphens says:

Thank god, its almost over.. I’ve open some site in scienceray.com and some are still restricted and some are not. hope this issue will be over in a couple of days, hopefully..
I’m gratefully happy that triond management took care of it in a short time.

  3. Anuradha Ramkumar says:

This is what we like about Triond. Gr8 news.

  4. Jaison says:

Finally good news after two days. Looking forward to your next update. Thanks for all the hard work in getting this resolved.

  5. Katalina says:

I am still not convinced. I will close out all Triond websites until this malware problem is 100% solved. I am convinced that it will still take some time before things finally fall into place.

  6. Sandra says:

I am also still not convinced and have not and will not promote anything Triond for awhile. Good thing I haven’t all my eggs in this basket. Sad thing because I do like Triond…

    :(

  7. starpisces says:

Thanks Triond, waiting for some more good news from you, dear Sirs. I only hope my friends don’t run away, I stay till now because of them, though my little earnings make me feel I have some achievement and I am contented, hope I can continue with this feeling, thanks.
    *_*

  8. A W H says:

    Great job Triond.

  9. Wow! You guys don’t miss a beat. Compensation for lost time. Your way ahead of us. Thanks!

  10. drelayaraja says:

This is a crucial time for both Triond and the Users. It will surely make a dent in our reputation, because most of the trusted sites are not shown.

My views have drastically come down during last two days… Hope everything is alright soon.

    Update
Good news as i am typing… Healthmad is out of this issue i think.

    All the best

  11. Flavyx says:

    Thank you a lot Triond.

  12. achilles2010 says:

Thank God it is all over. I was shocked when I first saw the warning, “Reported attack page”. I use Mozilla Firefox. To ascertain I tried Google-chrome. There too I received the same warning. Then I tried using Internet explorer and there I did not get any warning. It means I.E. is not monitoring the websites the way FireFox and Google Chrome does. Thus, IE is not a safe browser. I switched over to Firefox. I knew the issue would be resolved but I did not expect it to be resolved so soon. Thanks to management of Triond for working so hard and for restoring the site to its former semblance. There are still some sites which are showing attack pages but I am sure Triond will be able to take care of those sites too. Authspot.com was the worst affected site. I recommend that those who are using IE must scan there whole system for malware or badware, to ensure it is not lurking within their system.

  13. rupok says:

I hope triond can fix the problems.

  14. Noeal V says:

Its Gr8 news. Thats why i like triond a lot.

  15. Thank you Triond! you are one Great team :D

  16. westbrook says:

Contrary to achilles2010 comment above, I use Internet Explorer and it, too, is showing a hack message on all of my articles on Musicouch.

  17. Hi… For some reason strange things are hapenning with your site layout. The borders of the text are overlapping. I didn’t do this Monday. I don’t know if it’s me or if you’ve made a change… Just thought you might want to look at it. Thanks! Merlin Conces

  18. westbrook says:

Great News! I just checked my articles on Musicouch and the Malware Warning is gone. However, I feel the damage has been done. I normally get a lot of views on these articles and now, not one single view has occurred this morning.

  19. Raj The Tora says:

Malware or not, Triond is the best. I did not think that Triond management will act on it so quickly. Truly appreciate the efforts.

However, would request the team to review the ads and their content to avoid such slumps in future. Thanks a bunch. No no, Thanks many bunches :)

  20. Eric Damato says:

Most of my clients and readers use firefox so my views have dropped more than eighty percent. I am not so much concerned about this as I am about the fact that a reputation as a writer has been lost. This is what everyone I have been chatting with says needs to get done:

    1) All social sites (Facebook, Google, Blogger.com, etc) need a shout out from Triond that can be sent to “everyone” that this issue has been resolved and that readers are encouraged to read. This is not our fault and it not Trionds fault..but public relations needs to restored. Now. Like as in…..NOW! RIGHT NOW.
    2) As a result of lost readers, reputation, money, etc., I say that Triond do this, starting alphabetically, allow every one a “single” time opportunity to have their “most viewed” blog posted in the hot blog section. Everyone. This will bring back views…and it will restore faith in Triond.
    3) The referral program….needs to be scrapped. This is how we recieved this malware in the first place. Scrap the referral program.
    4) Design a program that allows for a “one time” chance at bringing back a deleted article. You know why? Because I deleted an article thinking it had malware only to find out that it did’nt. That sucks, i am going to have to write it over again.

  21. Raj The Tora says:

By the way, am sure that all Triondians (including the management) would have the feeling like Phoenix rising from the ashes :)

  22. Afool says:

This was a really evil attack; and hurt everyone. We all lost whatever pennies we might have gotten, and some people might avoid particular sites; i.e. quazen or socyberty as ‘attack sites’. The impact will be long lasting.

  23. Udi Oz says:

    @Eric Damato
What is the title of your deleted article?
I will try to restore it.

  24. westbrook says:

Our reputations are suspect, now. I would suggest that Triond initiate the posting by each owner of each affected site a message stating that the malware problem was not the fault of the contributing writers and that it has been resolved…and the articles are now safe to open.

  25. kevthefont says:

Good point made earlier about Internet Explorer by achilles2010. Why did this browser fail to warn of impeding doom when Firefox and Chrome can. I am sure glad I don’t use IE

  26. webseowriters says:

My this article get published but I got a decline notice even its not showing in my profile page
    http://healthmad.com/conditions-and-diseases/best-foods-for-kidney-infection-symptoms/

  27. Jaison says:

@Eric Damato. Referal program did not cause the issue. There was an ad network which unknowingly pumped malware that was downloaded automatically to computers without user consent. I think this was a security issue with firefox. I saw a firefox update happening yesterday. My antivirus program immediatly caught the malware and quarantined it just before the issue started.

I am also eager to hear from Triond Management about how they are going to compensate us.

  28. Francois Hagnere says:

This was a terrible isue that affected the whole community here. Fortunately, the Triond management reacted rapidly and I thank them for such. If some sites still have the warning, the danger seems to be away now.
We all work hard here to make this site’s reputation and I am sure that the Triond Management will know how to be grateful to all of us.
The Triond community is a marvellous team of talented writers and friends from all over the world and from all walks of life. The values of solidarity, friendship and camaraderie are and always will be present here. This is why I stay here.
Thanks to the whole of you. Very best wishes,
    François

  29. ManjuDhawan says:

I am really happy for the site reciprocation and quick action for the removal of all the glitches which stagnated the views and earnings. I believe all is over and we are in for better days as the pages have turned to be open for all the users, however it would still take some time for proper viwership to return.
Thank you Triond team for your all out effort in restoring the faith of all the users here
Looking forward to much more here in times to come

  30. papaleng says:

Good to hear that, and good job Triond.

  31. PR Mace says:

Thank you for your quick action and attention to this matter. My sites are coming.

  32. Cyn Bagley says:

Thanks so much for resolving this problem. Good job.

  33. sandcastle says:

Thank you, Triond , for not just addressing the malware problem but for promptly addressing the issue on our compensation, too.

  34. Thank you so much for addressing this issue, and thank you for quickly dealing with this situation. My views dropped drastically and I hope this will be over soon.

  35. SHILAHO says:

Well, I thought I was the only one who lost almost 100% in views, now I know better. Nothing has been as depressing as this. Hope it will be over and done with soon for writing on Triond had become more of a routine.

  36. Rajun says:

Looks like Google got updated. But Mozilla is still considering it as malware attack site. Are you guys going to contact Mozilla or leave it with Google?

Even if it gets fixed what about twitter, tweetmeme, other social sites that quickly tagged our sites as malware. I can’t post links on twitter. That is so sad. You got to fix this and any other social/local site that treats our sites as objectionable. I wouldn’t mind if it takes time. But please fix all the repercussions of this problem.

Google is awesome. They are quick in anything they do! Power be with them!!!

  37. sir rob says:

It’s not just in Forefox that has some issues, it’s also an issue with Chrome.

  38. Shahar Solomianik says:

For few hours now, we’re seeing traffic in its usual level. That’s good news ;-)

  39. Raj The Tora says:

Hey Shahar, “A Thing for cars” is not back to normal. Please look into this. Thanks. All others seem to be working good. Thanks a zillion for the quick action.

  40. k kissel says:

very nice and thank you soo much-i dont care what anybody says-you guys are GOOD!!!!

  41. Andrew says:

Awesome work Triond! I love you guys. And I love this site.

  42. nobert soloria bermosa says:

this is good for all of us…hope it won’t happen again..i just would like to ask Triond admin, what’s your action against the ad network that caused this malware?? thanks.

  43. deklin42 says:

I’m glad you are thinking of compensation for lost revenues.

  44. Raj The Tora says:

Hurray, August payments have been made. Triond Management is great. However, can somebody advise how long will it take for the earnings to reflect on the PayPal account? Thanks.

  45. jo oliver says:

Sadly, it happens. Thanks for a speedy response and considering compensating for the event:)

  46. bebarrs says:

Earning on Paypal ? hmmnnn..Perhaps when the malware is over.. LOL

  47. bebarrs says:

I got 3 pending articles.. when these things can be published?

  48. Francois Hagnere says:

Just to let you know the site “a thing for cars” still can’t be opened safely on Google Chrome (warning banner).
I hope pending articles will be published real soon.
Thank you and very best wishes to all,
    françois

  49. Nina says:

Looking forward to the end of this. It doesn’t look good for you or any of us to be posting our articles with mailware!

  50. Ramalingam says:

Triond has acted very quickly on the malware issue.Thanks.

  51. drelayaraja says:

I think the problem is now a history :)

    All the best.

  52. Katalina says:

There is something wrong with the forums. Every time I click on a post, I get a blank page. I don’t frequent the forums, but I thought I will bring this to your attention.

  53. Rajun says:

But the irreparable damage is done. Our traffic does not come from google alone. Lot of referral sites must have turned down Triond network sites.

What a ****ing waste of time to write here. There is no promise of royalty income nor is there guarantee for views over time. Innumerable problems in such a short time. I don’t have much earnings to get them reduced further. And I can’t put effort to increase the view count knowing well that some shit happens to along the way to affect the views.

  54. Rajun says:

Triond has to seek their advertisers to take serious action on whoever the ****ing b9st8rd placed malware in place of the ads. These b9st8rds dont want to work but steal others money using malwares.

  55. Francois Hagnere says:

I also think there must be another problem with views and comments and pending articles. I am surprised to have no visitor/comment today and still a pending article. I hope triond will let us know.
I hope this site has not lost its reputation. That would be so sad.

  56. scheng1 says:

I use the office computer when I saw the Reported Attack notice. Fortunately it does not trigger a warning in the IT department. Hope the page views return to normal.

  57. James says:

I was actually going to report this problem! Thank you, Triond.

  58. Raj The Tora says:

I got the payments right in an hour’s time after I posted my comment! It was a gap of an hour or so between the earnings sent message in Triond and email from PayPal. Guess I jumped on the trigger. Thanks Triond for the great service :)

  59. Jaison says:

I see my Individual article views are not updating. I can see my total view in the dash board going up but not the individual ones. Anyone else has similar problems?

  60. rupok says:

@Jaison, yes same problem. It has stayed the same numbers since the malware attacks.

This sucks. I get low views anyways but now its even lower. The search engine most of my traffic comes from isn’t google either so IDK if that’s gonna be a problem. This whole month I have yet to make any decent rise in money or views.

  61. Jaison says:

Is anyone from the Triond team aware of this? I have already raised an problem in their help center.

  62. Rajun says:

Is anyone getting holy content message on their dashboard that says nobody viewed your content today or am I the only one?
Is it temporary for the few hours that Triond updates views/earnings?

  63. I just wanted to tell you that I scanned my computer and my software found Trojan Horse: trojan-phisher-qqpass, Trojan Horse: trojan-downloader-java, and Virus: Troj/PDFJs-LF. I don’t know if these had anything to do with this but I just wanted to let you know in case. I have taken care of them with the 2010 Webroot AntiVirus with Spy Sweeper software which is available at Wal-Mart for only $30.00, for one years worth of protection, for up to 3 computers. It’s a great deal for so much protection. Everyone should scan their computers just in case. Just trying to help.

  64. edgar a says:

    Hello, TRIOND TEAM:-)

My “Dashboard” shows that I’ve published 44 articles; there were actually a total of 58 already.
I hope you can check this and rflect the accurate number.
    Thank you.

    eaa1118 here:-)

  65. Francois Hagnere says:

Jaison and Rajun: I got the same problems. Triond has to take the matter seriously, once and for all. Too many problems happened this week.
    Rebecca: you are so right!
I hope triond read all these comments and take action asap.

  66. shahid jamal tubrazy says:

i saw on new dashboard that i have many published articles but new dashboard shows publish articles 4. why?

  67. Rajun says:

    Rebecca,
I ran antivirus scan on my computer. It didn’t report any viruses. Should we update it with new virus definitions? Is the virus old or latest?

  68. Jaison says:

My antivirus gave me alerts on the day when the malware attack happened on Triond sites. It caught 2 trojans and one rouge.

  69. prsvin says:

Thank God, we got rid of Malware sites , now I can see my article without malware warnings!!!

  70. I don’t know. The last scan I did was 14 days ago so it happend within the last 14 days. That’s all I know. Two of them were really bad. The other was also a bad one, but not as bad as the other two. One of them embeded in my computer’s memory and had to be deleted. One of them (Trojan Horse: trojan-phisher-qqpass) was to try to steal passwords and other personal information. Anyone who doesn’t have protection needs to get some. I am glad to hear that you didn’t find anything Rajun. If you have 2010 protection you should be fine. I looked these up and I saw dates going back to 2007 on some of these. So, I think they have been around a while. So, any updated protection should have caught them if you were infected. Who ever thought of going through the ads to send this kind of thing out was a very smart cookie because I am pretty sure that the ads are one thing that most software doesn’t protect you against unless you check the box for it to, which is not automatic. You have to manually do it yourself. I really hate that this kind of thing has happend to Triond. People need to quit placing blame on Triond. It’s not their fault. The one who did this is to blame and they should be tracked down. I always thought that all those ads everywhere where irritating, I just didn’t know they would irritate my computer too. LOL!

  71. Oh yes, one of the others was to take over your computer when you log on and take control of it, making it do crazy things. Im not sure which one, but it was in the definitions my software gave me.

  72. At last is all I can say!

  73. strovek says:

Looks like the problem is back on Healtmad.

Could someone please look into it and make sure it doesn’t spread to other sites?

  74. strovek says:

    Looks like the warning disappeared.

  75. hi!,I like your writing very so much! percentage we be in contact extra about your article on AOL? I need an expert on this area to unravel my problem. May be that’s you! Taking a look forward to peer you.

  76. alfiesaden says:

hi there – is it just me !! can any one explain why when i type in the firefox browser “blog.triond.com” i get a different site yet whe i type it in google its ok? could this be a bug in my system or is any one else having same probs ?
