Announcing September Special

The August Special and new flagging system have been quite a success. Thanks to your help, we were able to achieve the following so far:

  • 516 spam articles deleted
  • 652 insufficient quality articles deleted
  • 362 plagiarized articles deleted
  • 287 adult articles deleted
  • 1,302 articles redirected

This is a great accomplishment and we want to wish a sincere ‘Thank You’ to everyone who helped us make this happen!

Now that we’ve begun getting rid of the bad, it’s time to replace it with the good!  Simply put, we need a boost in high-quality articles. In order to help facilitate this, we resurrecting an old favorite: a Quantity Challenge (Just like in the good old days!).

This time around, we want to make sure that the quantity challenge won’t result in a surge of low quality submissions. To make sure this happens, we are integrating the Quantity Challenge with the flagging system. The nuts and bolts of the new challenge are as follows:

  • Publish 5 articles + 5 flags and get a 10% bonus
  • Publish 10 articles + 2 flags and get a 20% bonus
  • Publish 20 articles and get a 30% bonus. No flagging needed.

Some important details:

  • Flagging will only count for articles that were published in September
  • Any articles you flag must actually be removed or redirected in order for them to quality you for the bonus (i.e., don’t spam by flagging)
  • We strongly recommend writing high quality articles. This will increase your chances to get traffic (& revenues)  and decrease the chances of your articles being deleted.

Lastly, be aware that not all sites on the Triond Network are participating. The following sites are excluded: Authspot, Notecook, Relijournal, Picable, Loudio & Kleep. The rest are fair game.

This is very exciting. We look forward to receiving lots of quality content articles and are eager to continue improving our content network. Good luck to you all and, as always, Happy Publishing!

Update:  Here’s the badge you will be getting… Go get it!

Update 2: A new box was added to the Dashboard showing the number of flagged articles that are relevant to this month’s special. We added this box because for the bonus we count only flagged articles that have been published on September and on the Activity box we show the total number of articles. Thank you Alistair Briggs!

  1. Fornis says:

After the good, the bad and the ugly experiences, Triond is back to its fair game. I am in for it and appreciate the changes that have been happening gradually over time :)

  2. Gary Wallace says:

Of course, the question is how did those 3119 articles make it through the submission process in the first place? It’s a fine achievement in a month but a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

  3. stine1 says:

Excuse me, do you actually see that you are contradicting yourself?

“This time around, we want to make sure that the quantity challenge won’t result in a surge of low quality submissions. To make sure this happens, we are integrating the Quantity Challenge with the flagging system. The nuts and bolts of the new challenge are as follows:

    * Publish 10 articles + 2 flags and get a 20% bonus
    * Publish 20 articles and get a 30% bonus. No flagging needed.”

So, you do not want users to spam low quality. You have to flag for 10% and 20% bonus, but if you submit at least 20 articles, you do not need to flag? Who says I can’t spam 20 articles without getting flagged for spam? ^^

    • Ianswer says:

I THink you can get flagged, where does it say you cant get flagged???

    • Lordkwate says:

Nonsense, if you say you can spam 20 articles, it won`t be different if you had to publish 20 articles and flag 20 articles. I think this is the good way of earning, publishing makes money for trion and us, flagging does not make money for anyone.

  4. nice achievement…nice challenge too fro September…im still hopeful earnings will improve as well..

  5. Earthwormick says:

    My goodness!

You really need to have a closer look at articles before you publish them Triond!
Get some quality standards and some real people to check our articles before you upload!

    • Lordkwate says:

there are millions of articles to publish everyday, they would need at least 200000 workers to achieve what you are saying and also publish at the very moment as now is.

  6. shuja says:

its good idea for all members. i hope every one will like it. i am recently join triond group, its very honest and great site for publishers, its so easy and great.

(above) …and speaking of SPAM! :-\

      • LewSethics says:

        not to mention antipodal inglish

        • Jackie118 says:

I’m with Stickman and LewS here – grammar is not correct and a website is being promoted!! I’m also disappointed that some sections of Triond are not included in the bonus. I know there are some fantastic authors and poets out there and I put a lot of effort into researching recipes and adding my own twist and yet I’m excluded! Provided the quality is good I can’t see a problem.

  7. scheng1 says:

Glad to have another challenge following the successful August challenge.

  8. Callen James says:

I would recommend keeping the flagging… and increasing it!

    Publish 5 articles + 5 flags and get a 10% bonus
    Publish 10 articles + 10 flags and get a 20% bonus
    Publish 20 articles + 15 flags and get a 30% bonus

I think that allowing people to write 20 articles will just bring in more crap. By forcing people to do both, you will limit the amount of trash that gets posted this month.

  9. Avaxier says:

Finally, the awesome challenge is back. 20 well-written articles is definitely a great challenge and with the flagging system now take place, I’m sure there will be much less spam articles published for the sake of this bonus.

    Thanks, Triond!

  10. eBowenZzz says:

    fair enough.

  11. I will definately try to get a piece of this bonus.. If my kid leaves me a bit of spare time to write!! lol

  12. 20 articles? No problem! I’ve got a huge backlog of reviews and fortunately, what I write for is eligible for the challenge so here I go. Just have to hold off publishing them until tomorrow. Backlog writing is such a good thing for me.

  13. lxdollarsxl says:

Why are Authspot, Notecook, Relijournal, Picable, Loudio & Kleep not taking part? I know most of what i write is on Authspot, but feel if this is to be kept fair to all writers that every part of Trionds network should be open game.

  14. Gemma says:

I’m looking forward to this already. It will be hard work for me to get that many articles published, but I am determined to be able to get the 30% bonus for this month.

I have seen an increase in views because of the flagging, and I hope that this will continue for this month, too.

  15. TaraSquirrel says:

Finally a challenge i am happy to try and complete :)

  16. Anastasia Meredith Oh says:

So glad were back to the good old quantity challenge!
The flagging system annoys me though, because you have to spend ages actually finding crap, and with all the school work i barely have time to write anyway!
Will definately try to get to 20 articles, hopefully will get some good essays from school to publish!
    Thanks Triond!

  17. Alaz.there’s a challenge which won’t need to bring others down. i’m glad that quantity challenge is back. So I must hit 20 to avoid flagging.

  18. Ladyelena says:

Glad to know that the quality of articles improved last month. September seems like a nice Challenge.

  19. join Triond says:

I made a huge profit out of this latest Triond bonus contest and I am planning to make new Triond special work for me.

    again.

    good luck to everybody.

  20. @Triond: A suggestion for you – why not make the ‘Recently Published’ list under the ‘Explore’ tab longer? At the moment it only shows the last 100 things published, perhaps making it a longer list (maybe 1,000!) it would be easier for users to find stuff!

    :)

  21. Christian Eaves says:

Hello. It is nice that Triond wants to give us these monthly challenges and flagging options. But I can’t help to feel sad for Triond’s writers as we write many articles for such little pay and Triond is pocketing a ton more than that off it’s writers. But hey what can we do about it? Of course Triond would not agree, but every good writer like a job should get a raise some times without having to do some challenges or some other little game they set out there for us to piddle with. We as writers work hard enough to research and write the articles that we write. And I hope no one gets offended by what I am saying. Thanks

    • Callen James says:

In the REAL WORLD, you get a DESERVED raise when you have increased your own productivity or increased the profitability of the company. It’s really that simple.

Unless you have seen drastic improvements in your views per article, you haven’t been adding to the profitability and are not really entitled to a raise.

Instead, you are being offered the opportunity to increase your productivity and in turn, will receive a bonus instead of a raise, which you will definitely deserve!

It’s basic business principles. Better to learn them sooner rather than later!

  22. taxfree says:

This is a great accomplishment! gO triond! LONG LEB!!! LONG LEB!!!

  23. mtrguanlao says:

Is there any badge for this promo? I wish to see it if there is!

  24. ASWIN S says:

    Ready for September Special.

But where is the August Badge.

Triond says they will ban many users from participating in bonus offer for

    using flag inappropriate way.

    Waiting for the badge.

  25. nice gesture and looking forward tom Triond September challenge

  26. Triond says they will ban many users from participating in bonus offer for

    using flag inappropriate way.

  27. LTStajul says:

thats really great news for us

  28. Valentine says:

    Have read about Nora Profit?
I guess it will help you win this September special by Triond.
    http://writinghood.com/writing/it-happened-to-nora-profit-dont-let-it-happen-to-you/

  29. @Triond Is there a hold up on the flaggings in the month of September? I have already flagged, eh, ‘one or two’ this month but still not heard anything back about them.

    Cheers

    • Udi Oz says:

Sometimes it takes some time to take care of each flagging. I am sure that soon you will see it on your dashboard.

BTW, “Recently Published” list is increased now to 1000. Thanks again for the idea.

      • Good show on both counts Udi. :)

Plenty of scope now to find more stuff to ‘read’, perchance to ‘flag’. lol :)

        • Udi, just something I have noticed on the Computersight website – the date there goes Year – Month – Day – so something published today, for example, is dated 11-9-7.

Other sites go Month-Day-Year, and Google is the same. So something published today on Computersight is, under Google, dated November 9th 2007! But on other sites it would be September 7th 2011!

          Hope that makes sense!

  30. wjack2010 says:

@Triond Please make it so that when joining Triond you have to confirm your email and also enter a captcha to prove your not a bot and that your not a spammer.

  31. GMbutt says:

    i second that ^

    @Triond
anyway wut does it mean by 10% bonus? does it mean you get 10% bonus on what you earned in the month? or from the articles or from your overall earnings?
    please explain

    • Baldo says:

I don’t think they could afford to pay it on your articles (unless it is only for articles published for this month) for every because then every time they have a special it would accumulate and they’d end up paying out more than what they take in. I assume it is only for the month’s revenues.

    • Udi Oz says:

the x% bonus will be given on this month revenues.
Say you’ve earned $5 in September then you’ll get $5.5.

  32. eBowenZzz says:

    Hmmm…no badge this time?

  33. Toto2810 says:

If an article is incorrectly published on a site that does not count for the September special and gets switched to a site that counts for the special, Does it then count for the 5,10 or 20 articles that go toward the special

  34. I am against this whole thing. I think it is WRONG. People should be able to write what ever they want. Triond, I think you are being a little far feched and way too harsh.

  35. I don’t like to make like the mean person, but I want my content to be read not judged.

  36. Rosetta Jallow says:

Udi – question – when we see things that need flagged, after we have written 10 articles, what happens? Why I am asking is I am on Triond a LOT reading and writing and have flagged more than 12 but since I wrote my 10th article no other numbers have shown up in the “Flagged by you” column though all those I flagged after 12 were definately in the wrong category. Have I been blocked from flagging because I didn’t stop at 2?

  37. Rosetta Jallow says:

It never took more than a day to update last month and it has been at 12 for 6 days now. Have Triond a backlog of flagged up things to catch up with????

  38. Chayanika says:

Published 20 articles! Waiting for the month end to get that much coveted badge and of course the bonus! hoorray!

  39. Rosetta Jallow says:

I’ve published 22 but still the flagging issue is a problem. I’m not spamming, only flagging the category options open to us but have flagged way more than the 20 which it stopped counting as. I’m mainly flagging up wrong categories of which there are many. So I would still like an answer from Udi/Triond about why the counter has stopped? Okay – I write a lot and will always exceed the targets as I am disabled and can’t go anywhere so am always online. What I really want to know is – am I being discriminated against in the challenges by being online most of the day reading and commenting as I like it here?

  40. Rosetta Jallow says:

@ Triond / Udi A response to this would be appreciated. I’m disabled, housebound and on Triond much of my day reading, commenting, making friends. Have now 23 articles this month. Mine are not trash as I have been published and have had freelance writing contracts since 2003. I’ve a Flagged by you status stuck on 12 now for over a week, though I continue to flag lots of articles wrongly categorised. Am I blocked simply because I am on here so much or what? I haven’t flagged to meet the challenge, only because Triond have the flag it button and there are a LOT of wrongly categorised articles on here. Regarding the “insufficient quality” issue – that one is rather subjective and what we the reader may think is insufficient may not be what Triond editors think it insufficient, so I think you need to have a re-think over that one as people could be blocked unfairly for having their own opinion. I think any short article which isn’t very informative is insufficient quality. What is Triond’s definition on that? What do you all see as insufficient quality?

    • @Rosetta Jallow I too have flagged a number of things that haven’t yet shown up on my Dashboard.

I would like to refer you back to something Udi said earlier on:

Sometimes it takes some time to take care of each flagging. I am sure that soon you will see it on your dashboard.

The likelihood is that what you and I (and probably many others) are seeing is simply that it takes Triond time to get through all the flags and the chances are they currently have something of a ‘backlog’ on them. Fret not, as I’m sure they will catch up with them soon enough. :)

  41. sandhee says:

waht did you mean with this “We strongly recommend writing high quality articles. This will increase your chances to get traffic (& revenues) and decrease the chances of your articles being deleted.”…??
are you deleting our old article..? or what..??

  42. If you get rid of the low quality, the plagiarisms, the porn and the incoherent, won’t the site be completely empty?

  43. Roy Harley says:

as many of you Know, craigslist makes the irronious claim that 98 percent of posts flagged are flagged correctly and if you have posted you
know thats bull, anytime you give immature people a chance to flag they will
take it with no regard, flagging 1 bad idea

  44. vikas kasodariya says:

    Hiii,,everybody
and pls guide me how to start all this??
    any 1 can help me?

  45. Marie Milton says:

I’m here just so that I get the following replies to my inbox.

I would like to say that I hope Triond finally realise how much plagiarisd material and spam that is getting through submission. This flagging business – as long as it continues to be successful, and not abused – will succeed in making this site more reputable.

    • lxdollarsxl says:

Who says flagging is successful? I think your living in cloud cuckoo land if believe that. The same crap is still there and so much of it on the hot content.

      • Marie Milton says:

lxdollarsxl, by suggesting that the flagging is successful, I was saying that the site ‘is’ actually being cleaned up. Yes, things still get through, but the more we flag, the more Triond will realise something is adrift and will continue to work to resolve the situation.

If I am in cloud-cuckoo-land, then so are many others who are helping cleaning up the site. So perhaps we all shouldn’t bother with the flagging if it is not actually doing anything!
It is you who is in cloud-cuckoo-land if you think that the site is going to get better ‘without’ assisting to clean it up!
You can’t sit back on your laurels and complain that the flagging isn’t working!

Btw, being on the hot content means diddly-squat!

        • lxdollarsxl says:

Where did i say the site was getting better? I do no think so, also the flagging that your so sure is cleaning up the site is a load of bull. You only have to read much of the hot content regularly to see that. The only things that have been cleared off poor content wise is that which should never have passed onto the pages in the first place. I wont flag because its not what i originally came to this site for, what i write also is never included in these so called competitions – the responsibility for what comes onto triond lies with the management team not those that write on here. They need to clean it up themselves or maybe you like doing it for them.

  46. I’m unable to comment…Triond please tell me the problem behind this.

  47. That’s really a good news. I’m unable to comment…Triond please tell me the problem behind this.

  48. Sarah Terzo says:

I had several articles of my own put in the wrong category, and I applied to have them recatagorized. Does that count as flagging? Can we “flag” our own articles?

  49. I love having the “Special Box,” on the Dashboard. It’s very helpful. Thank you for that awesome idea. It comes in handy.
